Acacia Cyclops red eyed wattle Rooikrans seeds x30
Acacia cyclops, or red-eyed wattle, is a tough, sun-loving shrub native to coastal regions of Western and South Australia. It lights up the landscape with golden, fluffy flowers that are spherical and bright yellow. Bees love them! The seed pods are long, “flat bulbous green bean” sized clusters that I have personally seen attracts cockatoo and small parrots. They will then dry and split into a curly mess exposing the the striking black seeds edged in red, giving it that "red-eyed" nickname. Built for harsh environments, it thrives in salty, sandy soils and plays a key role in dune stabilization and coastal restoration. Rugged, resilient, and bold, it’s a classic Aussie native with purpose and presence. Medium to small with late winter flowering. Generally a stout lower growing shrub that make for an excellent wind break with its fast growth.
