But it is worth it for the view. It is fast growing, drought tolerant and will grow in poor quality sandy or clay soil providing it is free draining.
The tree is also an excellent source of a substitute to Gum Arabic. Acacia Pycnantha gum is similar to gum Arabic and can but used and eaten just the same. It has a golden, Amber colour with a very sticky consistency. The tree excretes the sap when damaged.
